Directions
The cycle tour starts at the Lüdinghausen tourist information office, the Lüdinghaus, within sight of Lüdinghausen Castle. Shortly after leaving the town, the cycle path crosses the first smaller nature reserves. The "queen of flowers" then plays the leading role in the Seppenrade rose garden. Countless varieties bloom here in the summer months.
Passing fields and meadows, the trail leads to the Hullerner Stausee (reservoir). Away from the road traffic, the path leads along the lake to the connection to the Haltern am See reservoir. The picturesque surroundings invite you to take a first rest. Those who prefer to look directly at the lake will find several gastronomic offers at the Stadtmühlenbucht.
Shortly after Schloss Sythen, the cycle path dips into the heath, moor and forest landscape of the Borkenberge. The area is a paradise for birds and is home to many rare plant species. During a rest at the small Borkenberge airfield, you can often watch gliders on sunny days while enjoying coffee and cake. The landscape is also gentle and idyllic for the next few kilometres before the cycle path meets the historic chapel at Haus Visbeck.
A short time later, the path turns south and leads past beautiful nature reserves back to Lüdinghausen. the Biological Station of the district of Coesfeld at Klutensee has a lot of interesting information about nature to offer at the end of the cycle tour. from here, it is only a few more pedal turns to the finish at the Lüdinghausen Tourist Information.
Tip
Even though nature plays the main role on this bike tour. A visit to the fairytale castle of Vischering with its museum worth seeing should not be missed and rounds off the cycle tour perfectly.
