Regional hiking trail

A rich and varied experience: the Kaulenbachtal slate region circular hiking trail in Schieferland Kaisersesch.

Adventurous and varied: the Kaulenbachtal slate region circular hiking trail! The 14.2 km long hiking trail offers the opportunity to start in one of the three idyllic Eifel villages: Müllenbach, Leienkaul or Laubach. Numerous old slate mines await you during the tour, such as the Colonia or Maria-Schacht mine. You walk between the remains of the former slit halls and miners' houses, as well as along the route of the former mine railroad (Banntje).

A very special attraction along the route is the rebuilding of a splitting house on the Herrenwiese. Another highlight of the circular hiking trail is the Maria Martental monastery and pilgrimage church, which was founded in 1140.

Tip: Experience history up close - take part in a guided group hike Heaven & Earth. This takes place under the guidance of an instructor from the Verein zur Erhaltung der Schieferbergbaugeschichte e.V. (Association for the Preservation of Slate Mining History)
