The 59-kilometre cycle tour begins at the Haus Nottbeck manor. A visit to the Museum of Westphalian Literature housed there is worthwhile at the end of the tour. Unusual for the Münsterland region, the route first climbs uphill. The small pilgrimage site of Stromberg with its historic castle ruins is well worth the effort and offers a marvellous view of the surrounding countryside with its countless plum trees. An incomparable sight, especially when they are in bloom.
The next few kilometres lead to Oelde. The Vier-Jahreszeiten-Park with its extensive green spaces, large lake, animal enclosures and countless flowers is well worth a visit. After the centre of Oelde, it quickly becomes rural and the Münsterland shows its idyllic side. Accompanied by fields and meadows, the cycle path reaches Haus Geist. The moated castle lies in a small valley on the Geisterholz.
The cycle path leads back to Oelde and leaves the town in a southerly direction. The cycle path leads in a wide arc through the picturesque landscape to the entrance to Rheda-Wiedenbrück, where Rheda Castle is the highlight of the cycle tour. Together with the Flora Westfalica Park and the River Ems, the castle forms a unique ensemble.
After a tour of the old town centre, it's back on the bike for the final stage. It's not far to the finish at Haus Nottbeck.
Rheda Castle and the romantic Nottbeck cultural estate are just two of the many attractions.
Free car parking is available at Haus Nottbeck.
The cycle route is not signposted, but runs entirely along the signposted junction system and the red and white marked Münsterland cycle path network.
