Public transport tour: River cycling on the Rhine with a loop via the Voreifel and Siegmündung.

Feel free: On the banks of the Rhine, you fly straight as an arrow through the panorama without any obstacles. On the plateau, you crank through Waldville and Kottenforst with open brakes. Take a break on the water: two trips on the ferry across the Rhine, with the option of taking the small Siegfähre ferry.

After the start in Niederdollendorf, you first lace straight ahead - always along the banks of the Rhine. The surface is as comfortable as the offers for rest and refreshments. In the urban areas, pretty trees with lush promenades provide shade time and again. As soon as you discover the Rolandbogen on the opposite bank of the Rhine, things get exciting for you. Where do you cross the Rhine? Just after the island of Nonnewerth you will reach the ferry landing stage. Rhine ahoy! You're about to cross to the left bank of the Rhine! A little tip: Without cash (coins) you may not be able to make the crossing! (Costs approx. 1.50 to 2 €). On the other side of the Rhine, you'll find out why it's worth changing sides: In the postcard panorama with Drachenfels, it's now a laney ride. If you're already tired, you can sleep in the sculpture by artist Joachim Merz “Rheinschlafen” (more info: https://siebengebirgsblick.de/).

In Bonn Mehlem, opposite Königswinter, you will discover another ferry landing stage. From here you make the turn onto the high plateau of the Voreifel. Now it's time to put the pedal to the metal, the ascent is short but quite crisp with a long ramp. From the little half-timbered village of Villiprott, things get going: speedy asphalt lines pull you through the shady Kottenforst. Your next landmarks: The highway overpass and the quartz lake. On asphalt - as if drawn with a ruler - you continue through the “Waldville”. The forest spits you out again at the Roisdorf “Hufebahn” and you reach the plateau on a fast and winding descent. Through fields and open countryside, you pass the Bonn suburb and take the ferry to Mondorf on the Estermannufer. The car-free Sieg cycle path now takes you through the Sieg floodplains towards the starting point. To cross the Sieg, you can choose to take the bridge or the Sieg ferry - one of the oldest one-man yaw ferries in Germany, powered solely by the current of the river. Victory ahoy! Back to the starting point, you follow the Rhine Cycle Path again, which takes you through the middle of Bonn without any obstacles.

Siegfähre: The ferry service is usually maintained from Easter to the Day of German Unity from 09:30 in the morning until 20:00 and on Sundays from 09:00 (no guarantee).
