icon-info Details

The cycle tour starts in the centre of Emsdetten and leads along the Mühlenbachweg through Hollingen towards Lintel's Kotten, where the historic Max Clemens Canal is reached for the first time. The route continues via Nordwalde to Steinfurt-Borghorst. The town centre invites you to take your first break.

The Bagno-Park is reached a little later. The wooded area impresses with its old trees, quiet paths and picturesque lakes. The concert gallery, which skilfully combines modern and historical stylistic elements, takes centre stage. A few metres further on, you reach the outskirts of Steinfurt-Burgsteinfurt, where the imposing moated Steinfurt Castle and the romantic gatehouse provide a picturesque backdrop. Then you reach the market square lined with historic houses.

The way back to Emsdetten leads through the typical Münsterland park landscape with its fields, meadows and hedges. The canal is reached again shortly after the Borghorster Venn. Shortly before Emsdetten, it becomes really idyllic once again in the fairy forest.

The circular route begins and ends in Emsdetten. Cycling enthusiasts can travel here by car or public transport as well as by bike.

Travelling by car:

Emsdetten is excellently connected to the road network via several main roads. We recommend travelling via the A1 motorway (Cologne-Münster-Bremen) via the Greven exit (coming from the south) and continuing on the B 481 or via the Ladbergen exit (coming from the north) and continuing on the B 475.

From the direction of Emsland and the Netherlands, we recommend travelling via the A 30 motorway (Amsterdam-Osnabrück) to the Rheine-Nord exit. Continue via the B 70 towards Rheine and then via the B 481 towards Emsdetten.

Travelling by train:

Emsdetten has its own railway station in the immediate vicinity of the city centre and is served by various regional trains. There are direct connections to Münster, Rheine, Krefeld, Cologne, Wuppertal, Lingen and Emden, for example.

Emsdetten offers around 1,000 public car parking spaces. The parking spaces are spread across car parks and multi-storey car parks.

Information for cyclists

The Münsterland-wide junction network also makes it easy for those unfamiliar with the area to find their way around. Cyclists follow the junctions according to the motto "cycle by numbers". A shortcut is possible.

The junctions along the entire route are:

97 - 91 - 92 - 13 - 14 - 15 - 16 - 19 - 49 - 52 - 55 - 56 - 57 - 59 - 94 - 93 - 97

A shortcut can be taken from junction 19 to junction 59.
