Directions
The Beckum cement route runs for 27 kilometres through the town of Beckum and its surrounding districts.
The route starts at the railway station in the district of Neubeckum, an important historical centre of industrial development. From there, the route first leads out of the town and past the Vellern quarry nature reserve. Cyclists set course for the golden village of Vellern. The picturesque village enchants with a mixture of charm and zeitgeist. It is also the perfect place for a first break, during which you can stroll past the pretty half-timbered houses.
Back in the saddle, the route heads south to the viewpoint at the Kollenbusch quarry, a recultivated quarry with a diverse natural environment. Here, too, there are several picnic options along the route.
The route continues uphill to the Höxberg. Here it is worth making a detour to the animal enclosure and bird aviary, the fitness and obstacle course and the windmill. Back on the track, the route leads downhill and through the beautiful greenery along the Rüenkolk.
The next section runs along the Werse cycle path to the "Blue Lagoon". The route then continues towards Roland and past the Rolandsee lake. A detour to the lake is recommended. This can be explored and experienced along a circular route of around 3 kilometres.
The route then continues to Neubeckum
The route is equipped with 14 interesting stations. Information boards provide information about the cement industry.
