Cycle route 12 around Dülmen

The green landscape around the Dülmen district of Rorup is perfect for cycling. The 13 km long, signposted circular route leads from the small town centre up into the hilly landscape of the Baumberge. Fantastic panoramic views and a wonderful picnic area are the reward for the one or other metre of ascent.

The cycle tour starts in the small town centre of Rorup, which is surrounded by green parkland, and the historic Maria Hamincolt monastery is within easy reach. The history of the complex dates back to 1856. A few kilometres further on, the path leads up to the Weitberg vantage point.

When the weather is fine, the view from here is unrivalled and makes up for all the effort: the view sweeps across fields and meadows over the Münsterland and, on a clear day, as far as the Ruhr region and Münster.

The way back is pure cycling pleasure. The route back to Rorup is almost always downhill.

Travel by train to Dülmen railway station. The station is served by trains from Essen, Dortmund, Gelsenkirchen, Recklinghausen, Münster and Osnabrück. From there, take bus no. 565 to Rorup.

By car, take the A 43 motorway (Recklinghausen-Münster) to the Dülmen-Nord exit. Follow the federal road B 474 in the direction of Dülmen. Take the first exit in the direction of Dülmen. Turn right at the next junction and take the first exit towards Rorup at the next roundabout.

Parking is available around the church square or in the surrounding streets.

The cycle route is integrated as a pictogram into the official red and white signposting.
