From the hiking signpost, the A6 initially leads north along Mettinger Straße, then turns right and leads through a residential area to the cemetery. Here the houses become fewer and the hiker is offered an impressive view of the hilly north of Laggenbeck. This is immediately noticeable; the path leads steadily uphill to the Ibbenbürener Bergplatte with the Schafberg plateau. Even if it is more strenuous for the legs, it is a real treat for the eyes to hike up through the valley incision of the Gründkenliet. Once at the top, hikers are greeted by a large boulder bearing the Osterledde coat of arms in the easternmost part of Ibbenbüren. The path remains on the plateau for a short distance before descending again to Permer Straße. Caution is advised here, as unfortunately there is no pavement, only a grass verge. Some people are glad that the path turns right into a quiet farm track after a good 200 metres.
High above - the Osterledde forest chapel
The route continues downhill through meadows and fields before you see the Osterledde forest chapel on the left after a short climb. You should definitely climb this ascent, because once you reach the top, the Osterledde forest chapel invites you to pause for a moment. After initial plans in 1951, the forest chapel was built with great support from the local population and finally consecrated by Pastor Westmattelmann on 24 May 1959. Today, devotions and baptisms take place here. On Remembrance Day, the Osterledde Shooting Club lays a wreath in memory of those who died and were missing in the world wars, whose names are inscribed on marble plaques on the walls. In front of the chapel, which sits majestically on the hilltop, several benches and tables invite you to rest and take a breather. In 2023, the association "Freundeskreis Osterledder Waldkapelle e.V." was founded. This ensures that the chapel is looked after and maintained in the long term.
Panoramic view from the edge of the forest
Freshly refreshed, we continue on the A6, which now runs comfortably downhill on a forest path. The forest soon thins out and meadows and fields come into view. At the edge of the forest, you have a wonderful panoramic view of Laggenbeck with the hill, which dates back to the Jurassic period. A bench here also invites you to rest and look around. The path then turns northwards and leads past disused sand pits through woods and meadows to Kleekamp. There, hikers turn left and walk leisurely downhill. Shortly before the destination, a procession house invites you to reflect. The A6 then leads through residential streets, some of which are traffic-calmed, back to Brückenort.
