LWL-Museum Textilwerk
LWL-Museum Textilwerk
Directions
The 60 km cycle tour starts at the LWL-Museum Textilwerk in Bocholt. After just a few metres, you reach the Bocholter Aasee lake with its wide range of leisure activities. At the southern end of the lake at the latest, meadows and small forests dominate the landscape. Over the next few kilometres, the blue ribbon of the Bocholter Aa can be seen again and again. The somewhat remote village of Marienthal is definitely worth a visit. The village shows its particularly endearing side around the monastery church.
The cycle tour leads through idyllic countryside to the historic Raesfeld zoo. Beautiful heathland alternates with meadows, dense forests and mysterious lakes before reaching the moated castle of Raesfeld. The 52 metre high castle tower, the highest castle tower in Westphalia, is particularly striking, and the cafés and restaurants around the castle invite you to linger.
The cycle tour now heads north through the charming town centre of Raesfeld. The cycle tour reaches the popular Pröbstingsee lake near Borken with almost no further metres in altitude. In fine weather, the beer garden by the lake invites you to take a break and the pedal boats invite you to take a trip on the lake.
The cycle route heads back towards Bocholt. A short detour to Rhede is worthwhile. There is always something going on around the imposing church. The cycle path returns to its starting point through the Bocholt city forest.
