The Gustav-Mesch-Weg connects Detmold and Horn-Bad Meinberg on a charming 13 km long hiking route;

Starting from the Obere Mühle, the route leads through the historic park of the Palaisgarten past Germany's largest open-air museum, the LWL-Freilichtmuseum Detmold. Behind the open-air museum, there are wonderful views of the mountain ranges of the Teutoburg Forest. You should not miss a short detour to the "Petite Provence" of East Westphalia-Lippe, the lavender fields in Fromhausen. After around 3.5 hours, you will reach your destination, the spa gardens in Horn-Bad Meinberg, through the Leistrup Forest;
