In the Prümer Kalkmulde, the landscape has a lot to tell - hike past Devonian rock strata, across limestone grassland and experience wonderful panoramic views.

The undulating landscape around Wallersheim, Büdesheim and Schwirzheim is part of the largest limestone basin in the Eifel. It is rich in fossils and has largely complete layers of rock from the Devonian period around 400 million years ago. A varied hike and interesting stops are guaranteed here. Most of the route leads through open terrain with impressive views (Eifel view "Am Apert" near Büdesheim), rarely through forest. In summer at least, you should therefore not forget sun protection and drinks for on the way.

Highlights along the way:
- Parish church of St. Margarete in Schwirzheim
- Hartelstein ruins
- Wayside cross from the 13th century
- Rock strata from the Devonian period
- Eifel view "Am Apert" near Büdesheim
- Historic lime kilns
- Blood cross near Büdesheim

Extension by two hiking loops (2.5 km and 3 km) see description:

Büdesheim: blood cross, mineral spring, brook windlass

Loch: Walbert's sea of rocks (geological feature)
