On this route, forest passages alternate with open spaces and imposing views. On days when the race track is open, there is the opportunity to experience motor sport live.
This circular route is around 25 km long and leads in the first stage from Adenau to the Hohe Acht, the highest elevation in the Eifel at 747 m above sea level. Starting from Dr.-Creutz-Platz, the trail climbs steadily uphill, mostly through shady woods, to the landmark on the basalt crest of the former Tertiary volcano: the Kaiser Wilhelm Tower, built in 1908/09. The occasion for the construction of this stone observation tower was the Silver Wedding of Kaiser Wilhelm II and Empress Auguste Viktoria, as well as the commemoration of Kaiser Wilhelm I. From the listed tower you can enjoy a magnificent panoramic view of the beautiful Eifel panorama, which on a clear day extends as far as the Siebengebirge and Cologne Cathedral. The rest of the route to Nürburg runs across the Ahr/Moselle watershed and therefore has hardly any difference in altitude to overcome. Above the village of Nürburg, it is worth visiting the ruins of Nürburg Castle, the highest castle in Rhineland-Palatinate (676 m above sea level). On the last stretch, the descent to Adenau is not difficult. Forest tracks alternate with open spaces and beautiful views. Soon after, the route takes you along the race track past the Schwedenkreuz. Here you have the opportunity to watch the racers on the Nordschleife of the Nürburgring. The route continues through the Adenauer Forest back to the centre of Adenau.
