The approximately five-kilometre hike begins at the historic "Hunnenporte" gatehouse. This former gatehouse of Asbeck Abbey impresses with its imposing storehouses and the small Therese Cabinet commemorates Therese von Zandt, a remarkable lady of the abbey with a legendary connection to Beethoven.

Just a few steps further on is the bronze statue of the knight Bruno von Asbeck. The figure, created by sculptor Werner Bruning, is reminiscent of a medieval legend in which knight Bruno saved the crown of the empire through a cunning deed. A symbol of local identity and lordship.

The path continues to the former bailiwick with its photogenic petrol pump.
1.5 kilometres further on, in a meadow of flowers, is a work of sculptural art: the palindrome "Life - Fog". The perception of the word changes depending on the viewing angle. In the immediate vicinity, an insect hotel and sports stations invite you to take a short break or get some exercise.

Once you reach the Asbeck mill pond, you have the perfect opportunity for a relaxing break in nature. Another sculptural highlight follows shortly afterwards: the baroque figure of St Michael the Archangel, depicted as a dragon slayer. The imposing sandstone figure stands impressively under lime trees in an open field.

The route continues through rural surroundings with another small insect hotel before reaching the historic Stiftsmühle mill. The route finally leads to the parish church of St Margareta, whose building combines both Romanesque and Gothic elements. The route ends at the dormitory - a relic from the heyday of Asbeck Abbey and an important testimony to the monastery's history.
