Along 33 kilometres around Schöppingen, the art and culture route impressively combines historical buildings, modern sculptures and natural experiences. Embedded in the park landscape of the Münsterland, important stations such as the Renaissance town hall, St Brictius Church and the Schöppingen artists' village invite you to discover culture. Works of art in public spaces, some of which were created as part of the "Skulptur Biennale Münsterland", make contemporary art an everyday experience. The route combines cultural history with contemporary art in a special way and creates an enjoyable cycling experience through varied landscapes. The starting point of the art and culture route is the Old Town Hall. The historic building marks the start of a varied tour through Schöppingen and its artistic surroundings. From there, the route leads just a few steps further to the church square, where the St. Briktius Church and the artistically designed winged altar are important sacred sites.

The route then continues via the Feuerstiege to the Artists' Village Foundation, a creative centre of supra-regional importance. This is where the artistic open space begins with the first installations such as "We are on transit here". The artwork "Abflug" (Departure) on the L 579 motorway is a highly symbolic point on the edge of the village. The route then leads back to the artists' village: several exciting works such as "Winzige Übergangszone", "Auf das Leben" and "Die Decke" await behind the area, the latter directly behind the gatehouse.

The route now leads to Antoniusplatz, where "The Excavation of Time" provides an insight into the past and the forgotten. The route continues to the minimalist work "1m³ Feld". Along Vechtestrasse, "Vechtesteine" continues the connection between nature and art, before important religious and art-historical content comes together in Gildestrasse with the parish church of St. Mary's Birth, the Chapel of Grace and the image of grace.

The route then continues along the L 579 to a series of impressive works in public spaces: "Bon Accord 37° C", "He turns his angels into winds" and the "Great Guardian Angel" invite you to take a contemplative break. A short climb finally leads up the Schöppinger Berg, where the route reaches a scenic climax at the picturesque mountain chapel.

Finally, the route heads back towards the artists' village. The nature installation "Wäldchen" and the site-specific work "Kardo" are located behind the site, close to the car park.

The approximately 9-kilometre circular route combines art, history, landscape and spirituality in a relaxed way - ideal for enjoyable discoveries by bike.

There are car parks on many streets in Schöppingen. There is a car park in the street "Feuerstiege" near the artists' village.
