The 50-kilometre cycle tour "Paths full of contrasts" starts at the town hall in Ahlen and leads out of town along the Werse. Right at the start, you pass the historic Westfalen colliery, an important industrial monument in the region. Not far from there is the Osthalde, an impressive spoil tip with a summit cross and the Haldenkreuzweg trail, which invites you to take a short detour.

Continuing along the Werse, the route leaves the river in a northerly direction and reaches the municipality of Vorhelm. Here you will find "Haus Vorhelm", a charming 15th century castle complex with baroque elements, which provides an insight into the region's architectural history.

Continuing northwards, you reach the "Hardtteichen" ponds near Sendenhorst. This nature reserve, which was created from former gravel pits, impresses with its lush vegetation and invites you to take a relaxing break. After passing through Sendenhorst, which offers a range of restaurants and interesting architectural monuments, we recommend taking a break at the "Am Himmelreich" viewing tower. From here, you have a sweeping view over the town and the Münsterland parkland.

The route continues through typical Münsterland parkland with small streams and traditional farms. Shortly before Ahlen, you meet the Werse again, which accompanies you back to the starting point. This varied tour combines cultural highlights with nature experiences.
