Hiking: Gentle hills, a wide valley and wet feet

Regional hiking trail

Hiking around Ibbenbüren

From the centre of the village, this 13-kilometre hike first leads past orchards over the Wieker Berg. To the north, the Schafberg plateau with its forest and rapeseed fields offers a picturesque view. To the south, the path gently descends into the Aatal valley. Pollarded willows line the edge of the path as far as Ledder Dorfstraße. The path then runs through the shady beech forest of the Aatal valley. At the next junction, it is worth taking a detour to the left to the natural water treading pool. Through the light Aatal valley with its green fields and views of the Teutoburg Forest, the route is initially flat, then slightly uphill, before returning to the village through quiet residential areas.
