Münsterland walking & trading cycle route around Ostbevern and Telgte

A varied cycle tour runs between Telgte and Ostbevern through the picturesque river landscape of the Bever and Ems rivers. The focus is on the revitalisation of diverse biotopes that have been renatured after major interventions in nature. The route combines an experience of nature with exciting insights into sustainable agriculture, regional tourism and responsible consumption. Along the route, there are places that invite you to linger and are considered to be inspirational for ecological change. The fair trade coffee from the Rwandan region on Lake Kivu symbolises the global connection, as biodiversity is also protected there through targeted reforestation.

The circular tour starts in the centre of Ostbevern. From there, the route first leads to the orchard meadow on the edge of the village, an example of a traditional, species-rich cultural landscape. The route then continues to the One World shop, which sells fair-trade coffee from the Rwandan Kivu region - a symbol of global responsibility and local partnership.

The route continues to the Eggenhaus farm, where sustainable agriculture and nature conservation go hand in hand. Here, visitors can gain an insight into organic farming methods. The route continues to the Siemann farm garden, which contributes to the promotion of biodiversity with its diverse biotopes. The Eichendorffsiedlung estate shows how nature-oriented design can be realised in the residential environment.

The tour then reaches the Kock chicken and pig farm, which practises species-appropriate animal husbandry. Loburg Castle follows shortly afterwards with its English landscape park, characterised by rhododendrons and ponds. The park is an example of historical garden design and provides a habitat for numerous animal and plant species.

The route continues through the Beverauen, where renaturalisation measures are helping to restore natural river landscapes. In Westbevern, the historic Haus Langen with its former watermill and neighbouring nature reserve invites you to linger. The route then runs along the Ems, crosses the Telgter Heide and finally reaches Telgte with its historic town centre and famous pilgrimage church.

From Telgte, the route leads back to Ostbevern, passing further examples of sustainable land use and ecological change. The tour combines an experience of nature with cultural and ecological places of learning and is particularly suitable for cyclists who value sustainability and regionality.

You can park your car at Raiffeisenstraße 33, 48346 Ostbevern. It is also possible to join the route here.
