The former British military site in Herford, Hammersmith Barracks, is opening its doors to the public for the last time. Before the site is transformed into a modern residential quarter, there is now a unique opportunity to experience this historic location in its original state.
Exclusive guided tours await you: Immerse yourself in the past and discover the hidden treasures of the former British barracks site: Explore the old horse stables, marvel at the indoor riding arena and wander through the former British Army blocks - a historical panorama awaits you. Our trained guides will accompany you around the grounds and give you a deep insight into Herford's diverse history.
For photography enthusiasts, we offer special Lost Place photo tours. These make it possible to capture atmospheric images in a unique setting - between abandoned corridors, weathered doors and authentic zeitgeist. Our photo tours are aimed at ambitious amateur photographers and professionals who are looking for unique motifs.
Tickets and further information are now available on the Pro Herford website at
www.herford-erleben.de/hammersmith and at the Tourist Information Office. The number of participants is limited and tickets are only available in advance. Good to know:
- Duration of the photo tour: 150 minutes
- Participation only after prior registration
- 18-year-olds may only enter the grounds if accompanied by an adult or a person with parental authority
- Participation is at your own risk! Before entering the grounds, a disclaimer must be signed (brought along by the city guides)
- For group registrations or school classes/clubs, exclusive guided tours outside the set dates can be arranged individually (discounts possible!)
- Wear sturdy shoes and bring weatherproof clothing
- You are allowed to bring your own food (in warm weather, be sure to bring something to drink!!)
- Your own equipment is required for the photo tours
- Not barrier-free
- Animals are not permitted on the site
- Photos may only be used for private purposes, commercial use must be requested in advance
