A narrow gorge, weathered rock faces, overgrown with a dense carpet of moss - the Green Hell of Bollendorf is a natural experience!

Did the devil have a hand in the formation of the pristine, wild rocky world of this region? The numerous "devilish" names suggest so. And anyone climbing through the densely overgrown, narrow gorge of the Green Hell near Bollendorf might think so too. But perhaps it is actually an ancient seabed that has turned to stone, given its present appearance by huge rockfalls and landslides during the Ice Age and plants that grow on rock faces and in caves.

The Green Hell stands for many impressive rock formations in the gorge forests around Bollendorf. On the hiking route named after it alone, one bizarre rock formation follows another, narrow gorges and crevices alternate with rock towers offering fantastic views: Predigtstuhl, Muhmenlay, Lingelslay and Eulenhorst are just a few of the names that stand for unforgettable impressions.
