Anyone who has ever bitten into one of the Spi-Bra-Brös after a night of dancing knows why the Ham Ham at Josef's in Düsseldorf enjoys cult status. 'Spi-Bra-Brö' is the abbreviation for spit roast rolls in the old town - and Josef's, or rather his son Marinko's, who took over the restaurant two years ago, are simply the best.
Why? Well, the roast pork rotating on the spit in front of the open fire is extremely juicy, the bread roll fresh and crispy. A whole six decades of practice have gone into this, as the Ham Ham on Kurze Strasse has been around since 1961. For those who value healthy cuisine: On request, the Spi-Bra-Brö is also available with a handful of vitamins. Coleslaw is then added to the culinary package.
