The Boker Canal flows for a good 30 kilometers from Schloß Neuhaus to Lippstadt. Between Schloß Neuhaus and Delbrück, a cycle path almost always runs alongside the canal.

The Boker-Heide Canal (or Boker Canal for short) is one of the most important technical cultural monuments in Westphalia. It was completed in 1853 after around five years of construction.

The canal is diverted from the Lippe west of Paderborn-Schloß Neuhaus and flows for 32 kilometers via Sande and Delbrück to Cappel near Lippstadt, where it flows back into the Lippe. With an ingenious system of side channels, locks and weirs, it was used until the 1950s to irrigate and fertilize the barren heathland soils. Today, the Boker Canal is a popular excursion destination, especially for cyclists.

By car:
Take the A 33 freeway to the Pad-Schloß Neuhaus exit; then head towards Münster. At the exit to Sande, turn right into Sennelagerstraße and drive to the parking lots at the leisure facilities and restaurants of the Lippesee. (Navigation destination address: Sennelagerstraße 62, 33106 Paderborn)

By public transport:
Take the city bus line 4 (PaderSprinter) to the stop "Sande, Kirche" or the city bus line 9 (PaderSprinter) to the stop "Lippesee" .
