UNIQUE LUISENVIERTEL: SMALL SHOPS, CAFÉS AND OLD TOWN CHARM

Stroll through Wuppertal’s trendy neighbourhood

The Luisenviertel, around Luisenstraße in the Wuppertal district of Elberfeld, can certainly be described as part of the old town. The neoclassical buildings from the 19th century with partly wooden, partly stuccoed facades and the rear buildings that stretch far back give the quarter a romantic charm. Almost like in Paris.

The large number of little, owner-managed shops, such as boutiques, exquisite delicatessen shops and traditional jewellery and handicraft shops, invite you to take a stroll. The many small pubs, bars and restaurants are the ideal places in which to spend some time, as well as for convivial celebrations.

Up Wuppertal’s most famous staircase to the Nordstadt
At the eastern end of Luisenstraße is Tippen-Tappen-Tönchen, by far the most famous of Wuppertal’s many staircases. It leads to the Ölberg in the Nordstadt. Another quarter that you absolutely have to visit.
