    On the edge of Lengerich's city centre, but still central, lies the building of the former J. H. Gempt wire rope factory: since 2004 it has been a venue for events for the city and the region. Originally, the Gempt Hall complex was part of the wire rope factory. The Gempt company, founded in 1856, expanded its premises during the First World War with the Gempt Hall in order to improve the quality and quantity of its products.

    The Gempt Hall consists of three hall naves and was built using the modern reinforced concrete skeleton construction method of the time. The 60-metre-high chimney with a cooling water tank for the annealing furnaces (capacity approx. 150,000 litres), was not put into operation until April 1919 and is now a listed building. From 1957 to 2002, the neighbouring engineering company Windmöller & Hölscher used the hall bays as a foundry and warehouse. After the conversion, the hall can be used for many purposes: concerts, theatre, exhibitions, readings, markets, family celebrations and much more take place there.

    Information for cyclists
    Lengerich is located on the southern slope of the Teutoburg Forest and thus offers a unique landscape to explore. Here, cyclists encounter elevations in the otherwise flat Münsterland and can experience the special features of this beautiful region on extended tours. The historic old town of Lengerich is a perfect stopover on a cycling tour through Münsterland. Many small shops and inns are wonderful for a little shopping spree.
    Unique experiences are also offered above all by the numerous themed cycle paths that wind through the beautiful landscape. The Gempt-Halle in Lengerich is also home to themed cycle paths that introduce visitors to the history and special features of the region. During a stopover, you can enjoy a piece of industrial culture and take a break in the adjacent Gempt Generations Park.

    The entrance to the approximately 4500 kilometre long network of cycle paths is in Münsterstraße. Everyone can find a suitable cycle tour here.

    Arrival
    Arriving by car:
    Lengerich is conveniently located on the A1 motorway. To reach the Gempthalle, visitors should take the "Lengerich" motorway exit.
    Follow the Ibbenbürener Straße and the Südring for approx. 1.8 kilometres in the direction of Lengerich. Then turn left onto Aldruper Damm.
    After approx. 400 metres, turn right into Wüstenei. After approx. 400 metres turn into Bodelschwinghstraße, then take the first exit at the roundabout.
    At the next roundabout, take the third exit and follow Münsterstraße for about 250 metres. The Gempthalle is on the right-hand side.

    Rail connections: RE 2 (Osnabrück - Düsseldorf), RB 66 (Osnabrück - Münster).
    Distance Gempthalle: approx. 2.5 kilometres, about 30 minutes walk.
