The Emssee and the adjacent Emsseepark are the green oasis of Warendorf. Close to the town centre, an idyllic recreational area in the middle of the town awaits all visitors, guests and locals. The 1.4-kilometre-long Emssee lake attracts numerous water sports enthusiasts in summer. But walkers and cyclists also enjoy the wonderful paths along the lake. The adjacent meadows are perfect for a cosy picnic in nature.

Information for cyclists
Numerous themed cycle routes offer interesting cycling tours through Münsterland. The signposted themed cycle routes each show very specific contents of the region and thus tell exciting stories about Münsterland. The following themed routes run along the Emssee in Warendorf:

Historic town centres
The entrance to the Münsterland cycle path network, which is approximately 4,500 kilometres long, is directly at the lake. The best way to discover the region is along the Ems. Great excursion destinations in Telgte or Münster can easily be reached by bike.
Information for riders
Warendorf, the city of horses. It's no wonder that the Münsterland Riding Route runs right through the town. Horses are simply part of the townscape here.
The Münsterland Route runs along the eastern shore of Lake Ems. There you will also find a tethering bar and parking spaces for horse trailers at the Josephshof riding facility. The Münsterland Riding Route leads along beautiful circular paths through the Ems meadows.

There is a large free car park at Lohwall. The car park is located at the western end of the lake.
Arrival
Arrival by car:
B64 federal road, junction to the A2 motorway. Coming from Hanover, take the Rheda-Wiedenbrück exit. From the Ruhr area, take the Beckum exit.
B475 federal road, junction in a north-westerly direction to the A1 motorway.
Travelling by bus and train:
Warendorf railway station, distance to Emssee approx. one kilometre.
Railway line: Münster - Bielefeld
Regional train 67/71 ("Der Warendorfer")
Bus line B7 from the station, exit Lohwall or hospital
