History information

The Legge gatehouse was built in 1577. It is located in the old town of Tecklenburg and is particularly eye-catching because of its striking archway.

In 1600, Count Mauritz von Tecklenburg had a linen testing institute, the Legge, built in the gatehouse. Linen production has a long tradition and great importance in Tecklenburg. The linen testing institute ensured the quality of the fabric.

Today the Legge is mainly used for events and exhibitions. The contact person is Tecklenburg Touristik.
