Schloßstr. 7, 53340 Meckenheim - Lüftelberg
Fortress/Castle

Lüftelberg Castle was first mentioned in a document in 1260. In the 15th century, the estate was expanded into a castle with four round towers and surrounded by a moat. The castle took on its present form from 1730.
The court architect Johann Heinrich Roth erected a baroque building with high mansard roofs and a beautiful portal, but used the existing masonry and integrated three of the four older round towers. The centrepiece of the two-winged manor house is the garden hall with grisaille paintings, which was richly decorated as a banqueting hall. High windows create a link to the garden architecture, while the garden theme is picked up in the hall itself with remarkable wall paintings and stuccowork.
The castle can be visited by groups of 10 or more. You will be personally guided by the lord of the castle. The tour takes about 1 hour and costs 10 euros per person.
Civil wedding ceremonies and private celebrations are also possible by arrangement.
