Breathtaking views from blast furnace 5

The entire park covers an area of about 180 hectares. The highlight of your visit is a detour to the 70 m high platform of blast furnace 5, from where you have a breathtaking view over Duisburg and the west of the Ruhr Area. Enjoy this panorama best at the "blue hour" or at sunset. For romantic moments or effective photography, this place is the ideal spot.

Light art and impressive play of colours

At the weekend, the former smelting works shines in magnificent colours: In the evening, you can admire the light installations by London-based design artist Jonathan Park, who provides intoxicating colour effects for the illumination of the chimneys and industrial facilities. Do you fancy an unforgettable experience? Then take part in a guided torchlight tour, during which the "landscape" made of steel once again lights up fiery as it did during working hours.

Active in sports at Duisburg-Nord Landscape Park

Those wanting to climb don't have to travel all the way to the mountains. The ore bunker of the landscape park has been converted into a climbing route. The climbing garden of the German Alpine Association, Duisburg section, is the largest outdoor climbing garden in Germany. This is also where the lowest Alpine Club hut is located. In the high ropes course between blast furnaces 1 and 2, you balance from blast furnace to blast furnace at a height of 55 m. An unforgettable experience.

A dive in the Gasometer

Afraid of heights? No problem. Then you can go diving in Europe's largest indoor diving pool, which is located in the former gasometer of the landscape park. There is a lot to discover here: the wreck of an airplane, an old ship's bell or an artificial reef.

Culture at the blast furnace – a broadly diversified programme

The wide range of cultural events also attracts attention from afar. Concerts, readings or cinema events take place regularly between the blast furnace and the main switchboard. The Ruhrtriennale is a guest here as well as adventure fairs all about fishing, photography, food and drink, building and living.
