Close to the city yet still in natural surroundings

Whether you want a short walk to clear your head or a longer hike, the Ronsdorf reservoir is just beautiful. The Saalbach has been dammed here since 1899 and it is the smallest of the many reservoirs in the Bergisches Land.
The reservoir has been owned by the Wupperverband since 1999 which has undertaken extensive renovation work and now uses it for water management purposes. To protect the flora and fauna that has re-established here, the water's edge is not accessible. However, the view from the top of the 180 metre long reservoir wall over the water or down into the Saalbach valley invites you to take a deep breath.
If you walk down towards the valley to the left after the reservoir wall, you will reach the Haus Zillertal café and restaurant. You can take a relaxing break here. Refreshed and fortified, you will soon reach Käshammer or Clemenshammer in the Remscheid city area.
