Bad Münstereifel is a historically grown romantic little town with picturesque half-timbered houses and the City Outlet, whose attractive shops invite you to shop, along with many cozy cafés and restaurants. The historic town center is completely listed as a monument and is enclosed by a well-preserved medieval city wall. The Erft river flows through Bad Münstereifel, making it even more picturesque. Surrounding it are the expansive wooded hills of the Hohes Venn - Eifel nature park.

The most picturesque outlet center
In Bad Münstereifel, it has been decided to integrate the various shops into the old town center. By utilizing different historical buildings in the city, a charming shopping paradise has emerged, featuring outlet shops where you can purchase clothing, shoes, and much more at attractive discounts, as well as special shops like the "House of Hats," which celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2020. Here, you can find hats, caps, as well as scarves and gloves for young and old.

Relax in the park
Just outside the city wall, there are 2 parks: the spa park at the wall trench and the Schleidtal. The spa park is a beautiful place to sit on a bench and simply relax. Bad Münstereifel is an official Kneipp spa. This means you can 'tread water' through a water basin. The Kneipp method is named after Sebastian Kneipp, a priest who advocated the beneficial effects of nature, such as hot and cold water, as well as sunlight and healthy air, in the 19th century. Kneipp promotes blood circulation. In the Schleidtal, a visit to the park with the fallow deer is worthwhile. It is accessible 24 hours a day for free. Since there is no fence between visitors and the animals, it can happen that suddenly a whole herd gallops across the footpath. By the way: Fallow deer are very good climbers, so the steep slopes in the park are not a problem at all.

Printen
In Bad Münstereifel, juicy, soft, and spice-rich Printen creations are produced – in the Printenmanufaktur, delicious Printen are baked in a traditional stone oven, which can be enjoyed directly in the café. Of course, there are also delicious cakes on offer.

Learn more about the history
The history of Bad Münstereifel is clearly visible in the beautiful half-timbered houses, the city wall with the city gate, and all other old buildings. Every Saturday at 14:30, you can participate in a tour of the most important monuments. The experienced guide knows all the special places and anecdotes.

Many circular hiking paths
Bad Münstereifel is surrounded by hills with extensive forests. A hike on the "Eifelspur Kräuterpfad" between Bad Münstereifel and Nettersheim is a good opportunity to get to know local herbs. On the 15 km long Kneipp hiking trail, you will learn everything about the holistic philosophy of Sebastian Kneipp. Of course, the walk also passes through the spa park, where you can "tread water." For fantastic views of the Eifel, hike on the 21 km long Münstereifelsteig. In addition to a piece of primeval forest, where nature can take its course again, you can also "climb" the 586 m high Michelsberg, which was already a place of sacrifice for the Celts, Romans, and Germans. Not only will the 100-meter radio telescope on the Effelsberg amaze technology enthusiasts. It is hard to miss during a walk on the "Eifelschleife to the Radiotelescope Effelsberg."

Cycling along the Erft
The Erft, the stream that flows through the old town of Bad Münstereifel, is perfect for cycling. The 110 km long Erft cycle path runs from its source in Nettersheim to its mouth in the Rhine near Neuss. It is advisable to cycle downstream, as there are almost no elevation changes. On the first stretch through the Nordeifel nature park, you cycle through a piece of unspoiled nature. The banks are densely overgrown with bushes. In Euskirchen, you can take a journey into the past at the old cloth factory of the LVR industrial museum Tuchfabrik Müller, where it is always impressive when the old steam engine sets the looms in motion. At the end of the day in Euskirchen, you can take the train back to Bad Münstereifel.
