Who has ever been deep underground? Would you like to search for a treasure or explore the mine in the dark with just a flashlight? No matter what the weather is like outside, it is always the same underground. During specially tailored tours for children, kids can explore "The Eifel from Below" with informative or exciting elements.
Three times a day, guided tours through the former galena mine are offered for individual visitors.
They begin in the "Grubenhaus", where a small, themed exhibition can also be viewed. A convenient staircase leads to the "Deep Stollen", which is accessible to visitors over about 800 meters with some side tunnels. There are traces of mining work to discover from the late Middle Ages to the 19th century, when blasting was still done with black powder. Ore extraction was carried out after 1890 with the first electric mine railway in the Eifel! There is much to learn about the life of the miners and the geological history of the Eifel. A special feature is the over 100-year-old drawings on the walls of the "Deep Stollen".
