First mentioned in 1259, archaeological finds suggest that a motte existed here in the 11th/12th century: a hilltop castle, a wooden watchtower on an artificial hill – surrounded by a moat.
Originally mentioned in 1259, archaeological finds suggest that a motte existed here in the 11th/12th century: a tower hill castle, a wooden defensive tower on an earth mound – surrounded by a water ditch. In 1755 it passed into private hands, and in 2001 it was acquired by the Landschaftsverband Rheinland, which established a guesthouse and reopened the former Müller cloth factory as an industrial museum, where everything can be found as it was on the last working day in 1961. Spinning machines, looms, and even the steam engine are operational and demonstrate the cloth production of that time.
