The Kaiser-Wilhelm-Turm was erected on the mountain Hohe Acht, at an altitude of 747 metres.

On the Roof of the Eifel: The highest mountain of the Eifel is visible from afar: the 747-meter-high tertiary volcano Hohe Acht. Millions of years ago, the basalt dome of Hohe Acht was many hundreds of meters taller. Nevertheless, it is still the highest point in the Eifel and the third highest mountain in Rhineland-Palatinate.

Its wooded, eroded, and nearly perfect conical shape is dominated by a sturdy, listed structure. The Kaiser Wilhelm Tower, built in 1908/09 to commemorate the silver wedding anniversary of Emperor Wilhelm II and his Augus Viktoria from rubble stones, is not high enough to break any records at just over 16 meters. Yet, climbing it remains an unforgettable experience, as the entire Eifel with its castles, villages, and towns unfolds at your feet from its octagonal upper floor. More than that: even the Cologne Cathedral can be seen as a tiny toy on the horizon in clear weather. The view stretches across the vastness of the Rhineland up to the Siebengebirge, and extends to the Hunsrück, Westerwald, and even Taunus. No wonder that such an impressive gift was made to the Emperor by the then district of Adenau in the early 20th century.

Whoever wishes to enjoy the majestic panoramic view today will find a forest parking lot (hiking parking lot at L 10) located a little off the hustle and bustle of the Nürburgring and its Nordschleife, equipped with information panels that provide details about volcanism and hiking trails. From there, it is about one and a half kilometers through the forest until one reaches the year-round accessible Kaiser Wilhelm Tower after a rather steep passage.

The Eifelleiter hiking trail leads hikers on its third stage to the Hohe Acht.  The thematic trail "In the Footsteps of the Knightly Orders" also opens up the highest mountain of the Eifel, as do the "Hocheifel Circular Trail" and various walking paths in the town of Adenau. Not far away is the "Radarena am Ring" at the Nürburgring, a worthwhile destination for cyclists.
