Tourist attractions – various

The over 1000-year-old village to the west of Lübbecke has made a name for itself far beyond the region's borders with its traditional "Blasheim Market". Every year on the first weekend in September, several hundred thousand visitors flock to the B 65 for the fair and funfair. The origins go back to a livestock and market in 1584 on the old military road from Minden to Osnabrück.
In the late Middle Ages, the bailiwick of Blasheim was the center of the surrounding villages. The oldest building is the Romanesque St. Mary's Church, built between 1250 and 1350 and initially with a single nave, which was originally a private church of the Counts of Tecklenburg. A Gothic extension was added at the end of the 15th century. The massive church tower dates back to 1514. The church was given its present form in 1911. In 1979, the tomb of a noble family was discovered in St. Marien. Some well-preserved half-timbered houses still give an idea of the character of the former farming village.
