The Hohe Ward in the south of Münster is an extensive forest and local recreation area with a varied landscape and a well-developed network of paths. Mixed forests, sandy paths, small clearings and the nearby Hiltrup Lake make the area attractive for hikers, cyclists and nature enthusiasts. The Hohe Ward also serves as an important drinking water protection area and habitat for numerous animal species. Information boards and rest areas complete the nature-loving experience.

Information for cyclists
Various signposted themed cycle routes offer interesting cycle tours through the Münsterland region. The routes run just a few metres from the Hohe Ward:
German Football Route NRW
Dortmund-Ems Canal
Access to the routes is provided by junction 13, which is located around 1.7 kilometres from the forest (at Lake Hiltrup).
The network of junctions is over 4500 kilometres long, making it easy to navigate and find your way around the region's cycle paths and themed routes, even for those unfamiliar with the area.

Free parking is available at Lake Hiltrup.

Travelling by car:
Coming from the south-west: on the A1, take exit 79-Ascheberg, take the B54 to the destination
Coming from the north: Follow the A1 to Kappenberger Damm in Münster, take exit 79a-Münster-Hiltrup on the A1, follow Wiedaustraße, Amelsbürener Str., Hansestraße and Westfalenstraße to the destination in Drensteinfurt

Travelling by public transport:
Take the RB 89 in the direction of Paderborn
Get off at the railway station in Rinkerode
Continue with bus route 341 in the direction of Münster Hauptbahnhof, get off at "Münster Haus Heidhorn", approx. 20 min walk to the forest
