No, it is not anonymous factories that have made this city famous worldwide, but rather craftsmanship, cultivated and honed down the centuries. In small businesses, in quiet valleys.

In the middle of the forest, on the banks of the Wupper, is Balkhauser Kotten, where the past is still alive. A genuine Balkhauser Kotten knife: a useful souvenir or a unique gift.

Along the way, one thing becomes clear: craft and nature go hand in hand. Where the grinders once lived, visitors are now treated to authentic cuisine. Particularly worth trying is Bergische Kaffeetafel (coffee and snacks).

With a little luck, you can watch grinders at work at Wipperkotten. But even if not, this structure dating back to the 17th century is well worth a visit.

The Südpark in Solingen with the Plagiarius Museum housing a collection of more than 350 counterfeit products is a great place to visit. Really interesting!
