On the third stage from Gemünd to Heimbach, you hike through the Kermeter. This ridge with its ancient beech forests was the decisive reason for the designation of the national park.

The bridge at the Kurpark in Gemünd is closed due to construction work. The third stage runs there. A detour is signposted (as of 22.01.2025).

On the third stage of the Wilderness Trail from Gemünd to Heimbach, you hike through the Kermeter. This ridge with its ancient beech forests was the decisive reason for the designation of the Eifel National Park.

  • You start at the spa gardens in Gemünd.
  • Impressive beech and oak forests of the "Kermeter" ridge accompany you.
  • You can look forward to a fantastic view over the swaying treetops from the fire watch tower in Wolfgarten.

  • the Jugendstil power station, whose tunnel still transports water from Lake Urft to Heimbach
