The hike starts either at the parking lot under the Weser bridge or at the castle ruins;
There are many highlights to discover along the way, including the harbor with a great view, the old Vlotho train station with bakery and the modern new sewage treatment plant. Cross a section of forest with the grave of the Rolfsmeyer family and enjoy the first panoramic view of the Porta with the Kaiser Wilhelm monument.
Another interesting section is the path through the dense forest, past the old forester. After a steep ascent and descent, you reach the Sperlsiek, followed by another uphill section in the shade of the forest. The highlight of this hike is the view along the castle wall. Here you can choose between exploring the castle ruins, a walk around the castle or a direct descent via the Apothekerweg to the town center.
The 7 km hike offers a varied mix of nature, history and challenging terrain passages.
