The cycle tour begins in the centre of Dülmen. On the outskirts of the town, the Dülmen Wildlife Park surprises with its beautiful paths and rich woodland. Over the next few kilometres, the landscape opens up again and the view over fields and meadows seems endless.
Then you reach the Merfelder Bruch. This is where the famous wild horses live in the open all year round. They are only fed in winter. The animals are correspondingly robust. The picnic area in the Merfelder Bruch is a lovely place for a rest, with several tables and benches inviting you to take a break in the midst of idyllic nature.
The route now leads northwards through the small district of Merfeld towards the rhododendron forest. The last stage of the tour leads back to Dülmen, past the railway station to the starting point.
On a day trip, there is still enough time for a stroll around the market square.
By car via the A43 motorway (Recklinghausen-Münster) to the Dülmen exit. From there follow the signs to the city centre.
Travelling by train via Dülmen station. The station is located directly on the cycle route and is served by regional trains from Dortmund, Duisburg, Düsseldorf, Enschede, Essen, Mönchengladbach, Münster, Osnabrück and Recklinghausen.
Car parking is available at the station and on the street "Hüttendyk".
The cycle route is not signposted separately, but runs entirely along the signposted Münsterland junction network.
There is a bicycle car park with 700 parking spaces at Dülmen railway station.
