The starting point of this family-friendly circular tour is the Ost sports centre on Ledder Straße in Ibbenbüren. From here, the route initially leads southwards through quiet residential areas to the district of Laggenbeck on well-maintained, predominantly flat paths. The route continues along quiet roads and country lanes to the rural village of Ledde.

The Aatal begins behind Ledde, a picturesque valley characterised by meadows and forest edges, which stretches idyllically along the Aa. It is worth making a detour here to the water treading area in the Aa valley - a natural refreshment opportunity in a 30 metre long section of the river. Surrounded by greenery and birdsong, the place offers an ideal break for families.

After the short break, the route continues through the Aatal valley, past small farms, meadows and quiet forest edges, back towards Ibbenbüren. The route has virtually no inclines and runs through a varied, but always family-friendly landscape.

The last few kilometres lead through the western suburbs, past small playgrounds and gardens, back to the starting point at Sportzentrum Ost.

The route covers around 22 kilometres, is almost entirely asphalted or gravelled, has only slight inclines and is therefore ideal for families with children or beginners. Nature, exercise and small adventure stations make "Ibbenbüren kinderleicht" a relaxed excursion through the green surroundings of the town.

On the edge of the Teutoburg Forest, there is a natural water treading area in the Aa valley in the Laggenbeck district. The cool water in an approximately 30 metre long section of the Aa invites you to refresh yourself after a hike or cycle tour. The surroundings offer a peaceful atmosphere and the opportunity to get close to nature.
